Stunning Japonaiserie Panels

Recently installed, this beautiful example of contemporary Japonaiserie now graces the walls of a private residence in London. Produced for designer Tim Gosling, the bold and assertive outlines were inspired by a weeping cherry motif used on a 17th century, lacquer work tray.

Transforming a Venetian Apartment

We were recently asked by Reymond Langton Design to apply our specialist skills in this stylish Venetian apartment. We transformed a simple front door, along with a plain inner door, with a beautiful, yet durable, damask-inspired stucco finish, complementing the existing interior decor. We enhanced the simple frame of the distressed mirror with a bespoke, textured finish, devised to reflect the character of the apartment. The fireplace was matched seamlessly into the distressed, stone-coloured finish. This apartment now fully belongs in the elegant city that surrounds it.

DKT at ShowBoats Design Awards 2014

It was our pleasure to attend the Superyacht Design Symposium and ShowBoats Design Awards in Austria. Congratulations to all the winners, but especially three who we’ve enjoyed working with so much, Andrew Winch Designs, Reymond Langton Design and Terence Disdale. Thanks also to Boat International Media for a truly world-class event. Steve Keeling of DKT presented awards for Cacos V and Vellmari. The trophy for the latter was designed and produced by us, as was the trophy for the post-symposium skiing event, with the carving providing the winners with an elegant memento of the beautiful location.

DKT Continues to Distress Soho

Russell Norman, the ‘Restaurant Man’, has commissioned DKT to provide the distressed finishes for the relocated Polpetto, soon to open in Berwick Street. After a successful collaboration at the Ape & Bird, Cambridge Circus, DKT are again providing finishes that reflect the distinctive styling of Russell’s expanding portfolio of restaurants and bars. Using similar techniques but in a lighter, more feminine palette, DKT have created a look of aged grandeur. With snatches of lace and the odd glint of gold there is an air of relaxed chic, and as ever with Polpo, you feel like you could almost have been transported to the back streets of Venice.

DKT Yacht Projects Listed for Awards!

DKT Artworks are proud to have worked on three of the Superyachts nominated in the ShowBoats Design Awards and thank both Reymond Langton Designs and Andrew Winch Designs for continuing to entrust us with these high profile projects. Held on Monday 24 February at Swarovski Crystal Worlds, Austria, the ShowBoats Design Awards bring together an international audience of superyacht owners, designers and industry leaders to celebrate excellence in yacht design. DKT have designed and created two special trophies to be awarded on the night. Of course we can’t spoil the surprise, so look out for next month’s blog to see these trophies and find out what went on.

The Ape and Bird Public House

Over the past few months we have been involved in an exciting restaurant project in central London. The Ape & Bird opened at the end of last month, the latest contribution of restaurateur Russell Norman to the capital’s buzzing dining scene. With the brief to create rough, textured paint finishes fit for a proper boozer, we set about putting together crusty and atmospheric effects that would look like they’d been on the walls for decades. We hope you like the results – from the basement Dive Bar to the first floor Restaurant – which are best enjoyed with a pint of locally brewed ale. Though if we’ve done the job well you’ll hardly notice we’ve been there…

Sea Owl

Articles by Cecile Gauert, Onboard Photographs by Feadship

The yacht Sea Owl is featured in November’s issue of Boat International (Pages 113,118,119 and 120 – click link to view) and October’s issue of Showboats International (Pages 47,52 and 53). An Andrew Winch project completed this Summer, it features our mural work extensively – pirate fantasies in the children’s cabins, a lift car takes you to a Mediterranean hilltop garden, a jungle takes over a corridor, a library rises into the heavens, fragmented impressions of Venice and a series of trompe l’oeil blinds.

Monaco Yacht Show 2013 : La Rentrée

We were most encouraged by our first ever showing at Monaco this year, and greatly enjoyed sharing a stand with glass artist Eoin Turner. Aside from the interest shown in our work, it was very good to see one of our recent projects, Apostrophe, on display in the Harbour.

Many thanks to those who visited our Stand and, if you didn’t manage to pick up a DKT Portfolio USB or one of Eoin’s brochures, we’d be happy to send you one. We’re certainly planning to return in 2014 and, if you are going too, we’ll look forward to seeing you.

Monaco Yacht Show 2013

DKT are testing the Riviera waters this September with our debut at Monaco Yacht Show. We’ll be showing a selection of artworks and decorative textures in faux stone and cold cast metal, as well as examples of our bas-relief sculpture interpreted through Eoin Turner’s hot-glass expertise. We’ll also have a portfolio of the full range of our skills to hand.

If you know us already and would like to catch up or, if we’ve not met before and you’d like us to introduce ourselves, you’re welcome to visit us on Stand QP57 in the Parvis Piscine tent, from Wednesday 25 to Saturday 28 September.

Mogambo is the winner of the 2013 World Superyacht Awards, 60m+ category. It features a backlit, mixed-media, triptych artwork developed by dkt ARTWORKS for Reymond Langton Design. Realised in textured glass, hand-painting, toned and burned copper leaf and printed acrylic foils, the finished artwork was delivered and installed by us into the dining area of the 73.5m private motor yacht at the Nobiskrug shipyard, Rendsburg, Germany.
