Who We Are

Our company was formed in 1979 by arts graduates Niki Davies, Steve Keeling and Sean Trowbridge who were excited by the potential they saw in the decorative arts. The early 1980s were a period of re-emerging interest in this field, with DKT very much part of the revival.

In 1981, as Davies Keeling Trowbridge Ltd, we won our first overseas contract and, in 1984, we opened our first workshop. As other talented artists and craftspeople joined us, we developed into the sizeable and adaptable workforce which remains the DKT model. Over the years we have also built up valuable associations with like-minded, quality-conscious companies in the overlapping fields of manufacturing, technology and crafts, which have greatly enhanced our scope and capabilities.

In 2013 we changed our official company name to DKT Artworks Ltd and, in 2018, we opened a second studio in Prague.

How We Work

The heart of DKT Artworks is our London Studio, comprising workshop, office and showroom. This is where design, sample production, prototyping, and much of our manufacturing take place. In addition, our Prague production workshop gives us a firm and accessible European base.

We operate worldwide, being involved in projects at various levels of complexity, often combining studio production, on-site management, installation of artworks and providing on-site teams of artists and artisans.

With a workforce over 40 strong, we carry out jobs of all sizes. Since the early 1980’s we have developed working techniques allowing us to best operate on sites where several trades are working in close proximity and where accidental damage can easily occur.  As a result, most of our finishes, especially those applied on site, use fast-drying, water-based materials which are durable, non-toxic, colour-stable and relatively easy to repair.
